Offered
during the winter months when an escape to warm and
sunny weather is most welcome, Monasteries of the Lonely
Desert will explore some of the world’s greatest
antiquities in Luxor and Petra. In addition to seeing
the great sights in Egypt, it will delve deeper into
the mysteries of the Egyptian desert, with visits to
four early Christian monasteries and convents, some
dating back to the fourth century.

This area has been a magnet for years for private yachts
and sport diving, with its calm waters, beautiful arid
scenery and coral reefs. Carrying just 62 passengers,
the Monet promises to be a delightful, crowd-free
way to explore this historic region. You will find her
intimate ambiance to be very conducive to relaxation
and the enjoyment of travel with a limited number of
guests.
You will be joined during the cruise by William G. Dever,
professor emeritus at the University of Arizona and
a distinguished Near Eastern archaeologist and biblical
scholar. He will lead interesting discussions and informal
presentations during the cruise.
You
may also opt for the pre- or post-cruise extension in
Cairo, providing you more time to explore Memphis, the
Pyramids of Giza and the famed Egyptian Museum of Antiquities.
See brochure for details.
