Aboard
National Geographic Endeavour!
ANTARCTICA
November
22 – December 6, 2008
Antarctica
is otherworldly, as far away from anything familiar
as you can get. Every media image you’ve seen
seems meager in comparison. It’s one of the most
exhilarating adventures the planet offers. We invite
you to join us aboard the National Geographic Endeavour
to explore the “White Continent” for yourself.
The very character of Antarctic exploration —
the condition of the ice and weather are challenging
— makes travel there a highly specialized endeavor
that requires knowledge and leadership. We have chosen
Lindblad Expeditions as our tour operator for this program
because of their 40-year legacy of leading expeditions
there.
Our journey offers an exciting exploration on the Antarctic
Peninsula and the surrounding islands and waterways.
You’ll experience Antarctica personally with an
expert expedition staff — watching penguins at
eye level, kayaking among bergs, hiking landscapes and
traveling by Zodiac to barely-mapped places.
November is the time to pioneer. We’ll be among
the first to make landfall for the season, witnessing
the explosion of life in springtime: the penguins —
Adelie, chinstrap and gentoo — arriving to nest
and their raucous courting process. For those mesmerized
by the ice, there will be
plenty of exciting time on deck to watch and listen
as the ship crunches through the early season ice. And
you can opt to help the Oceanites scientists do field
work — collecting penguin population data and
more.
You also have the opportunity to join our exciting pre-
and post-voyage extensions to Chile’s magical
Atacama Desert and Easter Island, Polynesia’s
extraordinary open-air museum.
Your travels to Antarctica will enrich your life immeasurably,
and you’ll join the ranks of the legendary explorers.
And if you book your voyage by April 30, 2008, you’ll
receive complimentary round-trip airfare from Miami
to Santiago.
From
$10,250 pp including air from Miami.
