PAPUA NEW GUINEA
September
4-15, 2008
New Guinea is an extraordinary destination for travel
enthusiasts. We will fly from Los Angeles with a direct
connection to Port Moresby, New Guinea, and take a charter
flight to Tufi, 250 km east. Tufi is one of New Guinea's
best kept secrets, situated on a headland overlooking
ocean fjords, with outstanding snorkeling, kayaking,
and cultural experiences.

New
Guinea has no land mammals larger than a kitten, which
has allowed extraordinary birdlife to evolve and flourish.
At
Tufi, we may see birds of paradise, tree kangaroos,
and the world's largest butterfly. There are wonderful,
scenic walking trails through rainforests to villages.
At one village they will put on a singsing festival
for us.
We
will then fly to the highlands to the classic site of
Mt. Hagen in the upper Waghi Valley, home of the Melpa
people.
Another
charter flight will take us to Ambua and the famous
Tari Valley to see the Huli people. More than 13 species
of birds of paradise are found here. The orchids are
extraordinary, and the cultural experiences fascinating.
The
return flight is via Australia; optional overnights
can extend your adventure!
Trip
Fee: $2,995 per person + charter air + international/in-tour
scheduled flights. Limited to 18 participants.
