On

TAHITI & BORA BORA
December
7-15, 2008
For eight days, we’ll explore this paradise of
the South Pacific. Captain Cook and botanist Joseph
Banks landed in 1769 and found an untouched Eden, and
attracted a bevy of followers, including artist Paul
Gauguin and writer Robert Louis Stevenson.

In
Tahiti, we will board the 4-masted schooner, Star
Flyer, and first sail to Huahine in the Society
Islands, where Tahitian is spoken to this day and many
archaeological sites show early Polynesian culture.
On
Raiatea, we may hike up Mt. Temehani to see the sacred
Tiare Apetachi flower and the hibiscus tree. Raiatea
is also the birthplace of the god Hiro, father of the
Polynesians.
On
Taha’a see a local pearl farm and view Bora Bora
in the distance at sunset.
We’ll
visit Bora Bora the next day, where James Michener was
inspired to write Tales of the South Pacific. Explore
Moorea (Michener's “Bali Hai”) before you
return to Papeete.
Enjoy snorkeling opportunities and excellent food!
From
$2,995 + air.
